Similar to a multidisciplinary assessment. Patients first go through an intake assessment with the Health Management Specialist, followed by an assessment and functional abilities examination with a physiotherapist and occuptational therapist, followed by an examination by Dr. Lesiuk. A report is then prepared and recommendation are made based on the examination findings and the results of the functional testing. This can be helpful in determining whether a person is a candidate for a reconditioning program, or fit to return to work.
4-5 of the clients critical job demands are functionally tested to establish a baseline for reconditioning or work hardening programs.
When a reconditioning/work hardening program has been recommended, an intake assessment is done with the Health Management Specialist and a physical assessment and functional abilities examination is performed by a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist to establish a baseline. This information is then used to determine the focus of the program, and provides a benchmark for future functional testing results, which helps to determine the clients functional progress throughout the program.
